A Review of the Marvellous Suspender Chrome Extension

Did anyone test if the extension works WELL and efficiently when force enabling it? This is the best extensions I had!

TO RESTORE THIS / MAKE IT WORKING again after chrome disabled it, go to URL "chrome://extensions/" and click on the three dot on the right side of the trash can icon to RE-ENABLE it.

gioxx.org needs to update their code to work w/ the latest requirements by the Chrome team at Google. Those of us that have used this extension for years, and have massive tab-based work flows, are totally reliant on this extension. Chrome is now just getting their memory management capabilities productized at the the UI level, and they have a long way to go. Some, like me, may have even run into massive duplicated and lost tabs due to the conflicts w/ Chrome's new memory management and this extension. If you end up playing w/ Chrome's new Memory Saver settings and also have this plugin, be careful - specifically do not enable the "Maximum" setting in Memory Savor to find yourself with randomly missing tabs in your tab groups, attempting to restore them, ending up w/ duplicated tab groups everywhere, etc. etc. mayonnaise.

GREAT ADD-ON，if you want to restore it ，you can go to "chrome://extensions/"，and click on the three dot on the rightside of the trash can to keep it.

If this extension has been disabled after Chrome's update, you can forcibly turn it back on in the extension settings.

Amazing tool to give back RAM. Google needs to bring it back...

If your tabs are blocked by Chrome, just go to the extension settings page and turn 'The Marvellous Suspender' on, and then all tabs will work again.

What do we need to do to get The Marvellous Suspender working again? The Chrome update has disabled it.

This used to be a 5 star extension now 1 star - hence the 3. Now it no longer works at all in Chrome so I can no longer leave lots of tabs open to come back to as my computer memory is being hogged again. Please bring this back! I know I would be prepared to pay a fee to use this as it really helps productivity!

Great plugin-- wish I didn't have to worry about it being removed.

Oh no. @#$!@$!@# Google is going after all the best extensions because they want more ad revenue. The Marvelous Suspender and its predecessor (before it got sold off to some unscrupulous company) were and are awesome. The suspended tabs session is now a bit less important than it once was but the saving of sessions from session to session is invaluable. Google has never had a reliable way of saving browsing history in a logical manner so this was a great add on. AAAAAARGH!

A fantastic extension, absolutely essential to my daily life, that sadly no longer works. Please update it, I need this!

I had great hopes for this extension. I used to use the original extension. BUT, it doesn't work. First of all 'Suspend all tabs in all windows' does not work at all. I had to click 'Force suspend all tabs in all windows' instead. OK, so this 'suspended' all tabs, and yet the 'System Memory Usage' extension shows: System Memory Usage Used Memory: 61.52 GB Total Memory: 64.00 GB Available Memory: 2.48 GB WHAT!? There goes any hope of limiting Chrome's illogical, disgraceful abuse of my system's memory.

I lost all my sessions, is there a way to restore them?

The "pause tab suspension" function has been broken for years at this point, ridiculous that they still haven't bothered to fix it.

clicking the Not Now button besides the Tab will suspend automatically doesn't work. the only way is to whitelist sites which very inconvenient. used it for 2 months like that waiting for an update to fix it but it never happened...

On Chrome, When using the function save group on tabs that are suspended, when close and reopen chrome, the tabs are gone. If I click each tab on the group on the arrow to go on back, the site comes back, but when I click to unsuspend it, it hangs. Only if disable save group is that I can get the page to load. Sorry for the bad english. Thank you for this extension.

Used to work great but lately it keeps crashing. Same happens on Edge.

It used to work well, but suddenly I cannot load my suspended tabs anymore. They appear as blank pages, as if Chrome cannot even render anything in the window. I can see the correct URL, but there is nothing to show. I tried reloading the page and force reloading but nothing show up. The tab appears to be dead (and it isn't blocking). I have around 900 tabs and I suspect all of them are dead now. Shame. I liked this extension. Restarting Chrome didn't help. I can Duplicate the tab and switch away from the tab to make the duplicate load (takes 2-3 seconds). If I do not switch away, the new tab wont load. Then I can close the old tab. I guess I have to do this 900 times. Update: It eventually working, but took much longer time than normally. Using the chrome task manager, I see the extension consuming around 800MB (says 772,234K... not sure if that is 800MB or 800KB).

❌❌❌❌❌ OH MY GOD, DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS. THIS EXTENSION CLOSED CLOSE TO 100 OF MY TABS THAT I CANNOT REOPEN NOW. DON'T. DOWNLOAD. THIS. It works only if you don't have a big number of tabs open, otherwise it doesn't. Update: I decided to use it for a bit after writing this to see if it was a bug or something bad on my part (it wasn't, auto tab discarding was turned off right away, so that wasn't what did it, or was it left to close anything anytime, even when the memory is low). After using it for a bit, it AGAIN closed TENS to A HUNDRED of tabs in the background without my knowledge or approval. Not discarded or suspended, COMPLETELY CLOSED MY TABS. They cannot even be reopened with CTRL + SHIFT + T. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS.
